The Utrecht University Hall on the Domplein is the flagship and ceremonial heart of Utrecht University. The Aula, the oldest part of the building, dates from 1462. The University Hall hosts graduations, PhD defences, inaugural lectures and farewell lectures, as well as other ceremonies. The building is also a house for debate, lecture and conference. The University Hall attracts between one hundred to two hundred thousand visitors every year.
